APPY--WAVE GAME CANCELLED

A lot of games were postponed to that same date in 01 after 911 also. That week is used a lot for makeups.

Yeah last year they moved games to the next day (Friday to Saturday) but I don't remember games moving all the way to the end of the season. It is something that does not get better in a day. I wonder how they will able to play the rest of their schedule(Appy).

Well if they managed to contain it, and it didn't spread but to a few players, they can play the rest of their schedule. If it however got around and several had it, that may be difficult. Just guessing, they got it before it got spread too much, and cancelling this and all will contain it.

It's true. Canceled because a Staff Infection. Was called by the School Nurse to come get my son, have him checked out. From my understanding there were quiet a few players having to get "ok'ed" by a Dr. before they can resume practising and playing. This was by orders of the Health Dept and Wise County School Systems. I was told this by the school nurse.

I have had a staph infection, and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. In my case it started off with what I thought was a sore throat, then maybe strep throat, then it required medical attention (where staph was confirmed).
It progressed from "maybe a sore throat" to full respiratory staph infection in about 2 days - it took weeks to recover.
I can see how it came up "suddenly" - all it takes is for one person to have some suspicious symptoms checked out to find out it's staph and not some more benign bacterial infection.

They made the proper decision in cancelling. Staph is spread not only through contact, but can also be spread through droplets in the air. Add to that we dont know what kind of staph they have - MRSA or non-MRSA. Both are bad but MRSA is common and difficult to treat.

I agree this is the proper decision to be made. Staph is serious in some cases and by no means should a game be played in all infections are not taken care of.

Lord, I may have to head down to the park about 5 now. I can imagine there will be several from Appy heading down to the Park now. Clintwood folk might even show up as well.

Yep, exactly what I was thinking .. Bullitt Park is going to be absolutely PACKED tonight. Not sure what time I'll get there, but it's not going to be easy finding a seat I'm sure.

I heard from a player's mother that as of right now only 2 players have it. She said the reason it was canceled was the fact it's a home game and the health dept won't let them back in the dog house until it's cleaned. Supposedly had it been an away game they could've just had the 2 infected stay home and played without them.
